CONGRATULATIONS and WELCOME ABOARD to our two newly qualified umpires.

Both Paul Rowland, from Pirongia, and Dave Lamb, from Beerescourt, passed their Level 1 Umpire Exams with 'flying colours', on Sunday at Te Awamutu, under the watchful eye of Helen Stallard, Bowls New Zealand Examiner, and Cambell Snook from Rewa. Cambell is one of our Level 2 Umpires and was not involved in the training sessions, so had the pleasure of officiating on the day. Thankyou Cambell.

This exam was after 10 weeks of extensive training from Margo and Brian Watson, our Head Tutors, assisted by Ian Bardsley. Huge thanks and gratitude go to these people for their dedicated contribution to our candidates and the sport of bowls, they do it well.

Having three weeks of delay due to Covid certainly didn't put them off their tasks either, such is the training they are given to be able to retain what they have learned, and a tribute to their ability to do so. They are keen to apply what they have learned, so,  when you meet them on the greens say 'Well done Guys', and enjoy their company.

Our next training sessions will be held in June/July/August of 2022. Anyone interested can contact the Bowls Waikato Umpires Co-Ordinator, Eileen Stephens on 07 825 8323, Mobile 027 686 9368, or click here to send an email.

Once again. BIG HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS to Paul and Dave.
